CNN finally says goodbye to Glenn Beck

Bye bye.

Hey, do you hear that sound? Birds are singing, harps are playing… if you listen very closely you can just make out the laughter of small children. Oh, what wonderful thing has happened which can turn a dreary gray October day into such a bright, joyous affair?

Glenn’s TV show will be moving to Fox News Channel, beginning early next year. In the mean time, Glenn’s show on CNN Headline News has come to an end.

You really can hear the birds! That’s one of CNN’s most obnoxious pundits down, resigned to the squalor which is Fox Noise, where moronic loudmouth bigots like him fit in best. This means that Canadian viewers such as myself no longer have to grimace at the split-second sight of his goofy mug during channel-flips past CNN Headline Newz. If only Lou Dobbs and Nancy Grace would join him.

What was your favourite Glenn Beck moment? Perhaps the time he suggested that all Guantanamo Bay prisoners should be shot rather than brought to trial? How about his barely-contained racism during an interview with muslim Congressman Keith Ellison? Or his oh-so-insightful theory that all ugly women are “probably progressives”?

Just an aside: CNN, all your past transgressions shall be forgiven if you give Beck’s timeslot to Stephanie Miller.

I read this as John Beck and was hoping this place had become Infomercial-Fueled.

His show was a ratings’ disaster; it’s not surprising he was let go, and it’s also not surprising he has ended up on Fox news. Unfortunately, it seems Lou Dobbs is on both CNN and Headline News, and Velez has her own show. While not as bad as Nancy Grace, Velez is by no means impartial. Stephanie Miller is just as bad as Beck, just from a different perspective. I never watched Beck but from the few second I did see now and then, maybe his use of the term “socialist,” which is a popular deragtory lable these days, to describe anything that the government did, or wanted to do, that he did not like.

@ Mr. Layfield: Try out informercial-hell.com. I could never dream of filling their shoes.

@ Jon: I’m with you all the way, although I have to disagree about Stephanie Miller for a number of reasons. While Glenn Beck is pretty obviously right-wing, he tries way too hard to appear “neutral” in the same way that Fox News claims to be “fair and balanced”. Stephanie Miller accepts her slant and makes no apologies for it; if that’s a sticking point, you’ll have to apply the same criticism to Jon Stewart, Jack Cafferty, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow as well - none of whom spout the same kind of ridiculous bile Glenn Beck is known for.

Thanks for adding the abbreviation, I never would’ve gotten the joke without it.

Seriously. What is this, 1957? Everything old is new again!
