Best of the John McCain Green Screen Challenge
If you’re familiar with The Colbert Report, then you probably already know about the John McCain Green Screen Challenge. The contest began in July following a speech McCain had delivered a month earlier to a crowd in Louisiana, which just happened to take place in front of a completely green backdrop. The goal? Make John McCain exciting. Phew.
Since then, dozens of Stephen Colbert’s fans equipped with video editing skills have uploaded their entries to YouTube, much like hundreds of others did earlier during the first challenge. The entry you’re seeing above is one of the better ones, but a few more including my favourite are waiting after the break. Here’s a hint: it involves a rug which really tied the room together.
This next entry intersperses movie dialogue pretty masterfully.
The following probably features the most seamless integration of the McCain video. This is something I’d like to learn how to do eventually.
Last but not least…
There are plenty more available on Colbert Nation and YouTube. Which one is your favourite?

Gah…some of these are scary… But that Star Trek one got a chuckle from this Republiphobe…
Strange thing is, I watched all of them, and still don’t ‘get’ McCain’s message.
The original speech might be necessary for that, but chances are it won’t help much either.
