New Max Payne Trailer Bullet-Times The Internet
Full disclosure time: I’ve never played either of the Max Payne games. It’s not that I don’t appreciate many of their stylistic elements and influences, particularly all the film noir stuff, but I’ve just never felt any real compulsion to give ‘em a spin. Maybe they just came out during a time which was already saturated with third-person shooters and time-manipulation gimmicks, I don’t know.
The trailer makes the movie look like a million bucks, though. I might actually go and see this despite my usual distaste for film adaptions of videogames, Silent Hill notwithstanding. My lack of any emotional connection to the source material will no doubt be an asset.
One little nitpick? I’m not sold on Mila Kunis in any dramatic role. Then again, somebody probably said the same thing about Mark Wahlberg back in the day.
